Determination of dehydroepiandrosterone in dietary supplements by reversed-phase HPLC

 Purpose: To develop a reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for the determination of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in dietary supplements.
 Methods: A reversed-phase was developed DHEA supplements. An isocratic system consisting methanol and water (70:30 v/v) run at flow rate 1 mL/min on C18 HPLC column to achieve separation. The validated with regard linearity, intra-day inter-day precision, limits both detection quantification.
 Results: achieved retention time 10.8 min, resolution 4.12, limit (LOD) 50 ng/μL, quantification (LOQ) 166.7 ng/μL label claim 108.6 % relative standard deviation (RSD) 0.38 over range 0.0625 – 0.50 mg/mL correlation coefficient 0.9997.
 Conclusion: is simple, cost effective, time-saving reliable determining when compared other reported methods literature. Thus, it will be benefit manufacturers this supplement adopt quantitative laboratory analysis.
